Hey Friday uses two types of credits: chat credits for AI conversations and image credits for AI image generation. Here is how both work.
Chat Credits
Chat credits are used each time you send a message to the AI. One message = one credit, regardless of length. Free accounts receive 100 chat credits per day, which reset at midnight UTC. Premium accounts receive 1,000 credits per month. Premium+ accounts receive 3,000 credits per month. Admin accounts have unlimited credits.
Your remaining credits are shown in the top-right corner of the app (in the user menu). When you reach zero, you can still use Hey Friday after the daily reset.
Image Credits
Image credits are separate from chat credits and are used for pro-quality AI image generation. Basic images (Pollinations FLUX) are always free — they do not use image credits. Image credits are only used for premium-quality image generation.
Image credits never expire — they carry over indefinitely whether earned or purchased. This is different from chat credits, which reset daily.
How to Earn Image Credits for Free
Free tier users can earn image credits by watching optional rewarded video ads. You can watch up to 10 rewarded ads per day. Each ad earns you a share of the ad revenue as image credits. You earn at least 0.2 credits per view — so five ads earn enough for one pro image generation.
There is never any obligation to watch ads. They are entirely optional.
Buying Image Credits
Image credit packs are available as one-time purchases. Credits are added instantly and never expire:
- 50 image credits — $1.00
- 150 image credits — $2.50
- 500 image credits — $7.00
Demographics Reward
First-time users who complete their profile (name, gender, date of birth, and country) receive a one-time bonus of 10 extra chat credits. Fill in your profile in the user menu (top-right corner of the app) to claim this reward.
Tips to Make the Most of Your Free Credits
- Ask clear, specific questions to get useful answers in fewer messages.
- For long research tasks, include all your context in one message rather than building it up over several exchanges.
- Credits reset at midnight UTC — heavy users should keep this in mind when planning their usage.
- Basic image generation with Pollinations FLUX is always free and does not use any credits.
