Our story

Built by someone who spent two decades in the gap.

Hey Friday started with a simple frustration — powerful AI existed everywhere, but actually using it in your daily life still felt like work. We built Friday to change that.

F

The Founder

20+ years in security & compliance. One big problem left unsolved.

The founder of Hey Friday spent over two decades working in enterprise IT — designing security architectures, navigating compliance frameworks, and watching organisations wrestle with technology that promised to make life easier but rarely did for the people who weren't engineers.

The pattern was the same everywhere: powerful tools, high barriers. You needed to know the right prompt, the right interface, the right workflow. Most people — busy professionals, parents, students — just gave up and went back to Googling.

The insight from the security and compliance world is that the best systems are the ones people actually use. A perfect security policy no one follows is worthless. The same is true for AI — the most powerful model in the world means nothing if talking to it feels like filing a form.

That's why Friday is voice-first. Not because voice is trendy, but because it's the most natural interface humans have ever had. You shouldn't have to learn to talk to your assistant — it should learn to listen to you.

The gap Friday bridges

There are two kinds of AI users today. Those who know how to use it — developers, researchers, power users who can write prompts and chain tools — and everyone else, who know AI is useful but can't quite get there. Friday is built for the second group.

🎙️

Voice as the interface

No typing, no prompt engineering. Speak naturally and Friday figures out the rest — the same way you'd ask a colleague.

🔒

Privacy by design

With a background in enterprise security, we built Friday with data minimisation and user trust at the core, not as an afterthought.

Works like a native app

Installed from your browser, no app store needed. Friday runs on your home screen like a native app, without the walled garden.

What we believe

AI should feel effortless, not engineered.

Most AI products are built for people who already know how to use AI. We're building for the other 95%.

Voice is the most democratic interface.

It doesn't require literacy in a specific tool, it doesn't require typing speed, and it doesn't require you to stare at a screen. Anyone who can speak can use Friday.

Compliance and trust aren't optional.

Decades of working in enterprise compliance taught us that people only use systems they trust. Friday doesn't sell your data, doesn't train on your conversations, and doesn't monetise your attention.

The best technology is invisible.

You shouldn't think about Friday. You should just talk to it, get what you need, and get on with your day. That's the goal.

How we got here

Enterprise IT career

Building security infrastructure and compliance systems for large organisations. Learning what makes technology actually work for people — and what makes it fail.

2020s

The AI wave hits

Watching GPT, voice models, and multimodal AI reshape what's possible. Realising that the barrier isn't the technology — it's the interface.
